The perimeter stained glass panels seen in the church proper and the etched glass used in the vestibule of Our Lady of Lourdes Church were designed to depict the theme of Lourdes, France, where the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Bernadette took place in 1858. The patronage of Our Lady of Lourdes was selected in honor of the 100th anniversary of this apparition when our parish was founded October 28, 1958.
The band of water featured on this Web site recalls the water that flows at Lourdes, France, with its emphasis on the use of the blue in a flowing pattern. This pattern is, indeed, reminiscent of our own lives whose sometimes smooth, sometimes wavy journey is always calmed by our faith.
The design objective for Our Lady of Lourdes Church was to produce a space for a "living assembly" with simple and expressive form which inspires devotion and participation - the joining of the people and the priest in the liturgy.
May our liturgy of faith continue while we bring our different gifts together in unity as we have throughout these many years since the first Mass was celebrated in this church on February 10, 1980.
